Hanau Silver Figural Cherubs Piano Shaped Cigarette and Match Holder 19th Cent.

$ 208.56

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Restocking Fee: No
  • Condition: Very good condition for age. There is some unevenness on the bottom edge close to the foot peddles. This is an antique piece of silver that was used so it will not be perfect. It is also hand-made so there will be some tool marks and less than smooth surfaces. It could use a good polishing as I have only lightly polished it. The lid and hinge mechanisms on both the top part and the match holder part work well.

    Description

    This listing is for an antique silver 800 to 833 (80% - 83.3% silver - sterling silver is 92.5%) figural repousse cherub cigarette and match holder in the shape of a piano.  Generally, silver made in Germany in the 18th, 19th, and early 20th century was made of 80% silver.  Sometimes under 80% and sometimes more than 80%.  This very detailed piece is 2 7/8" wide, 3" tall and 1" deep except for the piano key area and then it is 1 3/4" deep.  It weighs 127 grams. The the hallmarks on the back I believe indicate this piece is from Hanau, Germany, however I was unable to attribute the marks to a specific maker.
