    A very rare book on a major disaster at sea:
    This legendary 1963 cruise ship disaster at sea made the cover of Life magazine but now is mostly forgotten.   The Greek Line had recently acquired the aging Dutch liner Johan von Oldenbarnvelt and after minimal renovation sent her off from Southampton on a Christmas Cruise to the Canary Islands.
    Four days into the cruise fire broke out in the beauty parlor.   Many factors contributed to the loss of 123 lives.    Many of the crew were German from the Bremerhaven area and their History Museum mounted an exhibit on the 50th anniversary of the tragedy.   Many of these photos have not been seen before in any other books.
    This special commemorative 195 page book tells the story in pictures.
    The text is in German but the pictures speak for themselves.
    The book is in like new condition.
