Description
Antique 19th C LANCASTER PA Folk Art EARLY COTTON Calico Fabric PINCUSHION #5 - It is a very pretty and rare form Round Early Fabric Circle. One side is brown and reds delicate fabric which looks like it was done in strips but that is more than likely due to the delicacy of the fabric. It most likely was brown calico print on one side and black calico print on the other. It appears joined together by a very lightweight tape trim in a faded light salmon or dusty pink hue (hard to describe- please see photos) that is every bit as fragile or delicate as the fabric. I am surprised that it survived this long due to its delicacy. I have been told it was in a noted Pa Collection but I have no written documentation on it. It is really nice early fabric pincushion and would be perfect in your pincushion display. It is stuffed with what is probably delicate cotton wadding but could be some other filling. Most likely from mid to late 19th C to the early 1900s.It measures approximately 3.75" round and 1" approx tall. It would make a nice Gift or would be great for your Sewing Collection or Pincushion Collection. We are beginning to list a lot of the pincushions that we have collected over the past twenty years so please look at our auctions.
